I haved lived in New Zealand since 1984, when I emigrated from Australia. Much of my youth was spent at Birdlings Flat , a windswept and desolate place where stones from the Canterbury coast abruptly end their journey. It was here that I first learnt about carving from a local family and discovered my passion for stones and found objects. In 2000, I moved to the west Coast of the south Island of New Zealand and began working in stone. The elemental power and raw beauty beauty of my immediate environment supplie the creative inspiration, along with the materials I work with-pounamu, greywacke and argillite. I also use jade from my former home of South Australia.
